Tomato Face

This new grocery store down the street was hosting a photo contest that was all about tomatoes. The winner received a $500 gift card, which means I probably should have tried a lot harder to win. I had so many complicated and involved ideas, but I waited until the very last day of the contest to take a photo. I don't consider myself an artist-artist, but I did carve this mouth into the tomato, and I think it looks pretty good. I don't generally put up photos of staged faces on this blog, but what the hell. I also don't normally carve faces into my food.

This is definitely not the most pleasing image. I forgot to clean the kitchen counter the other morning, and this spill was either from tomatoes, spaghetti sauce, or maybe I cut myself? No, I'm sure it was either the spaghetti sauce or the tomatoes. This is why you should clean any spills as soon as they happen.

A good morning smile

This is an old picture, but if I had taken it this morning, I would be absolutely certain that my day would be fantastic. Regardless, it still lifts my spirits. This must be why we like caffeine so much--it's so happy to see us!
